"Look At The Time" By ~ Gustave de Jonghe ~ 1829 - 1893.

Painter of genre scenes and portraits. Gustave De Jonghe was a pupil of his father, Jean-Baptiste De Jonghe, Navez and Gallait. Following the example of Alfred Stevens, he settled in Paris before 1860 and became the exquisite painter of elegant women and family life in the Second Empire. He distinguished himself by his talent and his reputation from 1863 onwards was undisputed. Disabled from
1882 on by a haemorrhage, he went to live in Brussels two years later. Sick and stricken with blindness, he eventually moved to Antwerp, where he spent the last years of his life.
